Request a basement visit
If water is coming in now, call. For a crack you've been watching, an old sump pump or a basement that smells musty, send a request and a local company will call you back.
Before you call
It helps to have:
- Your town and street, so the request reaches a company that works there
- Where the water shows up: floor edge, a crack, a window well or the whole basement
- Whether you have a sump pump, and roughly how old it is
- What the walls are made of, if you know: poured concrete, block, brick or stone
- Whether the basement is finished, and if you're buying or selling the house
River or creek rising? If the West Branch or a nearby creek is flooding, follow county emergency instructions first. Waterproofing is for groundwater and storm runoff, not for river water coming over the banks. Stay out of a basement where water may reach outlets or appliances.
